TOO MUCH PLASTIC

Globally, we produce over 380 million tons of plastic and generate 300 million tonnes of plastic waste, every year which is the equivalent to the weight of the entire human population.

Clearly raw plastic is over produced considering how much of wasted plastic is out there. This is why we use plastic waste to make our products.

Packaging which includes plastic bags produces the most plastic waste every year. Our primary material source is discarded packaging plastic.

Our story

Fantastic Plastic Studio is a black female owned business that makes household items made from 100% recycled plastic. We’re currently based in both Lagos, Nigeria and London, UK.

The Fantastic Plastic Studio started off as a university project (after going to a workshop led by Tom Meades of Gomi) at the Architectural Association school of Architecture in 2019 and developed into a business in 2021.

So far, Fantastic Plastic studio has sold over 230 coasters, some of which are used by restaurants and others are used within homes. In the future, we hope to expand our product range by including tiles and larger household items.

Our Process

Our signature marble patterns are achieved in a similar way marble is formed, through layering and the application of heat and pressure.
